Something I've been studying a lot the past 6 months is the US monetary system. I think it is such an interesting topic to explore because it is primarily responsible for our views of what money is. Yes you and I might live in Canada (or any other country for that matter) but like it or not the US monetary system controls many (probably all) of the worlds financial markets.

People don`t have a clue what money is. Most people know that it is a currency that allows us to buy and sell stuff. We know that people can borrow money and invest money. But ask someone where it comes from, or explain how our monetary system is designed and people can`t give an answer. These are questions that we`re not supposed to ask. These are ideas that we are not supposed to worry about. Afterall the government and our banks will take care of us.

I thought I'd do a series on what I have learned. I'm not sure if people will actually share my interest in it, but at least this site will provide a place for me to record my findings and thoughts.

I hope others will follow along with me.
