Hi, my name is Dave Robertson, and thank you for visiting Monetary Thought.

I have always been interested in business and finance. Finance is a subject that affects every person in our society. When the subject of finances comes up, many people start thinking of things related to personal finances. Things like bank accounts, credit cards, mortgages, RSPs and financial planning. Business people might think of business finances. Things like equity, capital, debt and business financial statements. The subject of finances however is much more broad, and it can almost be described as affecting nearly part of our daily life.

We all live in a world that has deep economic and financial systems, and whether we know it or not, a game of money is being played all around us. What is money? Who are the players in this game of money? Who sets the rules? and how can I best use those rules to my advantage? These are a couple of the questions that drive me to learn all I can about money, economics and life.

I am a graduate of Carleton University, Bachelor of Commerce, with a concentration in finance. I have worked in the financial service industry for over 10 years during which time I have gained experience in retail banking, brokerage services, financial planning, and exempt market securities. During these years of financial experience, I have come to understand, that all around us, a game of money is being played. I have noticed that most people’s financial education has been from limited sources, and often individuals only have pieces of the picture, that is our financial and economic system.

The vision of this site is to provide a place to share thoughts and ideas about our economic system, and explain how it affects each of our personal lives. The dream is to see lives enriched through an increased understanding of how to these systems work. I wish to provide financial education for families and individuals to help navigate the game of money that we are all caught in, and see families prosper.
